101st Airborne Division

Originally created as a paratroop division of the United States Army during the Second World War, the current 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), with the suffix added for the Vietnam War, now operates using helicopters rather than parachuting.
Based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, it is commanded by MG John F. Campbell. It forms the nucleus of Joint Task Force 101 in the Afghanistan War (2001-).
Current organization
The Division has four Light Brigade Combat Teams, the 101st Aviation Brigade, and the 101st Sustainment Brigade.
