An air force is the part of a nation's military that is responsible, at the least, for long range air warfare. Depending on the country, some level of Army Cooperation Aviation and close air support may be part of the national army or naval infantry. Its navy may have carrier aviation, tactical helicopters, and maritime patrol aircraft.
