During the Second World War, in the Pacific Theater of Operations, Operation CATCHPOLE, the invasion of Eniwetok, had been scheduled for May 1944, but the operation was accelerated to mid-February. It was speeded up due to the success of Operation FLINTLOCK against Kwajalein. [1]
