Virginia Thomas

Virginia "Ginni" Thomas is an American conservative activist and spouse of Supreme Court of the United States Associate Justice Clarence Thomas. She recently founded Liberty Central, chartered, according to its website, to will educate motivated citizens to "preserve freedom and reaffirm the core founding principles," according to the group's Web site, and will serve as a way for concerned Americans to "make a difference in the fight for liberty and against the liberal Washington agenda." The group is seen as supportive of the Tea Party movement.

The situation is challenging in that becoming the spouse of a Justice does not mean that an individual loses her First Amendment to the United States Constitution rights, but Justices traditionally recuse themselves from cases where a family member is affected by the outcome. Sue Hamblen, Liberty Central's national coordinator, said Virginia Thomas met with ethics officials for the federal courts and was told her work "was in no way a conflict of interest."

She is not new to politics, having worked for Dick Armey, Hillsdale College, the Heritage Foundation and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. She describes herself as a fan of Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin and Laura Ingraham and other talk radio hosts, and is "intrigued by Glenn Beck and listening carefully."
