Meanwhile, I note one apparent omission among your roster of fictional butlers that P.G. Wodehouse fans will find particularly grating. Bertie Wooster's man Jeeves doesn't appear to be there. (I see a reference to ''Move Over Jeeves'', but not to the original. Wodehouse fans would seriously challenge your statement, for example, that Alfred, Critchton and are better known than the redoubtable Jeeves, who serves in many respects as the model for many of the movie butlers you list. 

:Unless I've missed something, this is an oversight you will definitely want to correct.

:Also, (and this is much more along the lines of an optional suggestion): Do you think there might be a place for a brief "And The Butler Did it" exploration of the place of butlers, and more generally household staff, in mystery fiction? (This might be a possible signed article by a regular reviewer of mystery novels at one of the major newspapers, for example.)

Thank you so much!  I have high hopes for this grand experiment, and hope it is successful.  I have a distinct disadvantage, not being a technocrat--I keep reminding the boys not to speak so much computer-ese!

Your suggestions are marvelous.  Please note that I most certainly did NOT forget the redoubtable Jeeves!  It's just that Jeeves is a valet, not a butler.  However, I'm sure lots of authors will be trying to add him in.  Do you think that I should refer to this in the article?  

"The Butler Did It!"  Yes, certainly, sounds like a plan.

I also intend to write [[valet]], [[housekeeper]]...all the "traditional" servants, in fact.

Would [[great house]] also come under your purview?  I assume it would.  Sorry for my ignorance, but my few sociology courses were generally in sociology and film--crossover courses.  When I went to school there was no film department, so my film minor comprised courses in different departments:  literature and film, philosophy and film, etc.  I'm afraid I don't really know what's sociology and what's social anthropology.

But, as Matt Innis replied the subpages template is used on all subpages to make it easier to navigate to the other subpages and main article within the cluster. * I created about 45 articles from scratch on Wikipedia. I also revised/expanded/contributed heavily to about 90 additional articles. I understand that if I want to use content from the 45 articles that I created, I need not check the "Content is from Wikipedia" box. However, if I want to use content from the 90 articles that I revised/expanded/contributed heavily to, what then? Should I then check the "Content is from Wikipedia" box?

:Welcome aboard Milton! Anything you wrote or created, you can contribute to Citizendium without reference to your previous contribution to Wikipedia. For articles, that means that if you include only what you wrote, you do not need to check the "Content is from Wikipedia" box. For images, it means you may upload them under any license acceptable to Citizendium, again without checking the "Content is from Wikipedia" box. It is considered good form to explain that you created the content both at Wikipedia and here, so that people don't notice the similarity between articles/images, and thing we're misusing GFDL content. Hi Roger. Sometime back you asked about the question marks that appeared in the Dmanisi article and I said that it was the kartuli script that your computer/browser was not reading. I hardly gave it a second thought but my related software on my Mac and my Safari browser were updated sometime ago and it allows me to read a large number of different scripts. I alter the "Text Encoding" which is under the "View" tab on my Safari menu and shuttle around till I get all the nonsense symbols sorted out. Thank you for your remarks that were very useful to improve further the article. 

I read the Social capital entry. The first paragraph is most strange, and is contradicted by the second. It would need to be corrected and I will perhaps rewrite it in a second stage, time permitting. 

Going back to the TSCF article, I made a number of changes, some minor and others more substantial. I rewrote the first paragraph on the history of the concept. There are more precisions on Halifan and on Jacobs who indeed seems to have introduced the concept in an urban and neighbourliness context. Later in text I mentioned that the TSCF conception is a more social psychological or mentalistic conception of social capital than most of the others discussed in paragraph 2 or in the social capital entry. I made a slight rectification to indicate that this definition includes the mental disposition (upstream) and the "capital" aspect (downstream), but suggests that the latter cannot be fully understood without reference to the former. 

As for the erosion of the social link I removed this sentence but it means that in the industrial countries the link or bond between people becomes increasingly weaker. The social link or bond has been defined by Hirschi (1969) this way: “elements of social bonding include attachment to families, commitment to social norms and institutions (school, employment), involvement in activities, and the belief that these things are important” (p.16).

[[User:Shamira_Gelbman|Shamira Gelbman]] has recently been confirmed as an editor in the Politics Workgroup.  I suggested a few articles that might be appropriate for her to approve but I think she might be a little intimidated by the process.  Do you have any articles that you've worked on that might be ready for approval or do you know of any that the two of you could approve jointly? == Thought experiment ==

I'm trying to nail down for myself the distinction between sociology and anthropology, which both study people.  Would it be fair to say that sociology is concerned with human behavior (action and interaction) while anthropology concerns itself with human production (physical and cultural)?  The point of this thought experiment is to work out whether any of the anthropology articles I've written but can't get approved for lack of anthro editors would be appropriate to approve through the sociology workgroup.  In particular, I have in mind [[Folk saint]], [[El Tío]], [[Tecum Umam]], and [[Milpa agriculture]].  It seems to me that the first would be most appropriate while the last would be least appropriate, but I'm not sure.  What do you think? --[[User:Joe Quick|Joe Quick]] 20:18, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

I don't know if you were the constable that approved my authorship, but you did send me a welcome note, so I figured I would start asking questions with you. When I signed up I asked to be approved for editorship in my specific field of Aquarium Fish. Seeing as there are no current editors (or even articles for that matter) in the specific subject, I'm wondering why my editorship wasn't approved. I looked at the requirements for editorship and it says that when concerning hobbyist topics (such as aquarium fish) a "professional recognition" isn't required. As I said in my bio I've been raising Aquarium Fish since I was nine years old (ten years ago). I have kept and bred most, if not all, of the commonly available species. I am also dabbling in the oddball varieties. I believe my level of expertise, coupled with the lack of editors in the subject, should secure me a position as an editor for the subject. Just wanted to let you know I got your email. I guess your logic makes sense, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. ;) Anyway, I wanted to say thank you for replying, and replying thouroughly. I will be contributing a massive amount of (hopefully) quality articles, starting sometime after monday. I can not start now, as I am in the middle of some personal things, but I assure you that, come monday, there will be nothing else occupying my time. Unlike wikipedia, there are no articles in any of the subjects that I wish to write about, so I will have a heyday, and will sincerely enjoy writing them. Cheers. Reminded by Shamira's [[civil rights movement]] entry, I created an interim entry for [[civil rights]]. My intention is to provide a top-level anchor for matters at least in the United States.

I do not know if it would be better to supplement or replace this with an article on [[human rights]]. There is an article on the [[Universal Declaration of Human Rights]], which I created, in part, to give a framework for [[extrajudicial detention]].

While I know several people have been writing on more general civil society and rights movements, I'm hoping to get some help at least on the top-level [[extrajudicial detention]] and perhaps [[interrogation]], and, ideally, on the lower-level articles.
