MATLAB is a Numerical computing environment and programming language created by the MathWorks. MATLAB allows easy matrix manipulation, implementation of algorithms, plotting of functions and data, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs and computer hardware.
MATLAB was primarily designed for numerical computing, however there is a toolbox available that interfaces with the Maple symbolic engine, allowing it to act also as a computer algebra system.
