Nodes are the general term for the class of all components attached to a network.  [[Hosts]] and [[Routers]] are subsets of "nodes"; it is common to speak of individual host or router nodes.
 
The term is also used to refer to subclasses, such as [[multicasting|multicast-capable]] nodes.
