I am seriously concerned by the virtual cessation of activity, other than my own, by editors and authors in the economics, politics, sociology, philosophy and law workgroups. These are subjects on which - because of its ability to deal with topical issues - an online encyclopedia has the greatest advantage over its offline competitors. I believe, also, that Citizendium's collegial constitution gives it potential advantages over Wikipedia that it has failed to exploit.
Although I am reluctant to be diverted from my efforts to plug some of the gaps in our coverage of current affairs, I have accepted nomination in the hope of persuading the Editorial Council to give priority to the task of reversing that trend. I would ask the other Council members to join me in encouraging existing contributors, and in trying to persuade those who have ceased to contribute to give Citizendium another chance.
