Omar Khayyam (Persian language: عمر خیام) born on May 31, 1048 AD in what is modern day Niashpur, Iran, and died on December 4, 1131.
He was a famous mathematician and astronomer of the Islamic world, making significant discoveries in both fields but primarily in algebra and in discovering the solar year. He is most famous for his poetry as compiled in the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam.
