May 22 still
Apologies. I have become over-sensitive to criticism (most especially guised as "trivial questions") and by the time I went back to erase my inappropriate reply to your perfectly reasonable and nice question, you had already seen it, and answered. I'm a bit red-faced, I assure you. Let me give it another try: Generally, edit summaries are only filled out as an indication for why a change has been made. Although that's imnportant when working on the wiki, in the approvals notice board today I kept making dumb mistakes in formatting and spacing and the like, and so never put anything in the summary. I'm a little off my game today (can't you tell?:-) - I never noticed that font business. Probably it's there because that's the title of the section- May 22, and the other stuff just makes it look red to make the section stand out. Like here- if I don't put anything in edit summary when I save the page it will probably come out "May 22 still". I think Citzendium is great, too- and unfortunately, I've become a great big crank. Just one thing - you might want to cast your eye over CZ:Article Mechanics, which is the Citizendium style guide. Good work, though, its a nicely balanced article. - On Windows XP, hold the 'Alt Gr' key (the one to the immediate right of the spacebar) down while typing the vowel you want the fada to appear over. Capitals with a fada are a pain: Shift + AltGr + vowel :P Anton Sweeney 11:36, 15 August 2007 (CDT)

Regarding to the Eamon de Valera picture, I just discovered that the label on the library picture was "E. de Valera" instead of "Eamon de Valera", if you have any knowledge on Ireland, can you verify whether it is the photo of the Irish president or another E. de Velera? - Heh. :-) I would like to see that covered sooner rather than later, though. Following on from the Easter Rising, it leads naturally into an Irish Civil War article - then onto Troubles in Ireland (or something with a better title!) and Peace process in Northern Ireland - thus covering the major events in the history of the island in the 20th and early 21st centuries nicely. But yeah - small steps, and pick topics you have the energy/enthusiasm for. That'd be a lot of work. - Ambitious list, but you've a good start there already. The only obvious omission from the southern side of the border I can spot is the 1914 Lockout. Maybe something on Ireland during WWII aswell - though that's covered somewhat in another article. Films - yep, there's no reason whatsoever they can't have their own articles - just where necessary, as with Michael Collins, pointing out "Eh... may not have happened like this really..." Dear Anton Thanks for the welcoming remarks. Now to the substance of your message to me. I am and have always been a great believer in division and delegation of labor. There are those who are best at creating substative text and there are those who excel in copy-editing and formatting it. There is no way I could have supplied the close to twenty articles in less than a week if I had to learn and follow all your rules and regulations on format and worry about crossing "t"s and dotting "i"s. Besides I'm an old man, retired, without the help of a secretary, and not too prone to learn new tricks. Having said that I will try learning by experience and in fact have modified my style of summission already. Please bare with me and help me do what I am best at and not good at doing myself. - Hi Michael. That's certainly one way of doing it - but it gives us four articles. Looking at CZ:Naming_Conventions#Disambiguation_in_page_titles, I'd be inclined to go with just three, having the Martial arts page be something of a 'general' article in itself, while pointing to the eastern and western articles and the catalog. - Fixed - you'd just left off the closing </ref> tag. Its something I have trouble with too, sometimes - I had to correct about a dozen of my own referencing errors on the Geiringer article last night for pretty much the same reason :-) Note that you can always "go back a step" to revert your own changes to the last "good" version - just click on the 'History' tab of the article, and you'll see an "undo" option. Hi Arnold, you need to put the following code at the very end of any page containing references to make them display:

Once that is in, all references will appear "automagically" in the right order at the bottom of the page. I'm adding that code to this page, so the "reference" you put in above should now appear. Note that you always have to make sure to put in a closing reference tag </ref> at the end of the footnote - otherwise, the program assumes that the whole rest of the page is part of the footnote. If you had checked the page history you would have noticed that I had done some edits to the article in question. I haven't done much as I've been busy with other things. As I am a volunteer, meaning not a paid writer here, you can expect work to be done when I have time. Re Ammonia production
Anton, thanks for fixing that spelling error in the Approved version. Also, if you will look at the History of the Draft version, I revised a wiki link at 16:40 on May 32, 2010 and that same revision needs to be made in the Approved version.

I do not understand why you deleted these two pages. I have removed John's speedydelete because the issue could be resolved without deletions and moves and without loss of history. (I copied the long definition to the page and adapted the definition.) I do not know why he restored the speedydeletes. Some questions about the upcoming elections
Hi, Anton:
- I just nominated a number of people for the MC and editors for the EC. Did I do it correctly?
- I admit that my memory is not what it once was ... but I don't recall that nominations needed a second in any of our previous elections. What changed and why?

Hi Milt, Anton is probably asleep by now, so I thought I'd give my opinion for you. Article 25 of the charter, which deals with elections, seems to suggest there has to be a second:
- Section Two: Nominations
- . Any Citizen may nominate and/or support one or more candidates for a Council.
- . A Citizen who is supported by another Citizen becomes a candidate by declaring the intention to serve for the whole term.
- . Any Citizen accepting a nomination shall resign immediately from any involvement in the election's organization. The Management Council may appoint a replacement.

- Matt: Any rewording would require renewed authorization. In my reading, there is nothing in the wording you have cited here to suggest that a person self-nominating requires a second. (Unindent) Anton, here is exactly what CZ:Special Elections and Referenda October 2011 says:
For a candidate to appear on the ballot, he or she must:
- Be nominated by a Citizen in good standing, including him- or herself.
- Be Seconded by another Citizen in good standing, including him- or herself.
That clearly reads (to me) that all nominations require a second. In both of our recent two elections, I recall that there were no seconds required for any nominations ... including self-nominations.

- Hi Milt. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner - I had a busy day at work. Nothing has changed since the last election - in fact, I copied the nomination sections verbatim from June's nominations page. I see in a later revision of that page that item 2 was changed to "2. Be Seconded by another Citizen in good standing only if he or she is nominating him- or herself. Otherwise, a Citizen's nomination does not need to be Seconded." I'm going to make that change now to the current nomination page and will leave it there unless the Management Committee rules otherwise. - The MC already has ruled on this issue. MC motion 20, 27 April, 2011 (http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Management_Council_Passed_Motions#2011-020.2C_27_April_2011) stipulates that a candidate "must be nominated by at least one citizen other than the candidate himself" (item 2). While there is no mention of "seconding", the nomination process as now worded (after it was updated by Anton) implements this requirement.
- In answer to John Brews observation, there is no need for renewed authorization, since the process as now described correctly implements the MC ruling. Dan Nessett 20:49, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

About the election ballot
Anton, the instructions for the MC voting states: "Under the heading Management Council, type the name of your preferred candidate." - Anton, I only wanted to point out this duplication -- it was not an accusation, of course, and I did not expect that you are aware of our discussion. Nominations/internal links
I did some quick editing to the nominations page - it seemed necessary to rectify the previous edit by another Citizen. Normally I wouldn't wish to edit the page, feel free to change my edits as necessary.
The problem of the links is from the content of the candidate pages themselves - there is a small link at the top of each one to navigate back to the main election page, however this link goes to the older elections making navigation amongst the pages less intuitive. - No problem with those edits, David.
- I see the problem with candidate pages now. There's no real "wiki" way to correct it, without possibly breaking other links, which I'd want to avoid during an election. Nominations for Management and Editorial Councils
You have been nominated for seats on both the Management and Editorial Councils in the July-August Special Election. The nominator was myself. To accept or decline these nominations, please visit the Nominations page here (for the Management Council seat) and here (for the Editorial Council Author seat) by midnight UTC on July 27th. You may write an election statement for each if you wish (linked from the Nominations page).
The Management Council seat runs until June 30th, 2014 or June 30th, 2015 (the successful candidate with the fewest votes receiving the shorter term) and the Editorial Council seat expires on December 31st, 2013.
