A definition or brief description of Mexican-American War.

(1846-1848) War between Mexico and the U.S. resulting in the U.S. annexation of Texas, California and New Mexico, and a training ground for young military officers from West Point who would face each other during the American Civil War. An estimated 25,000 Mexican and 15,000 American soldiers died, more often from disease than battlefield injuries.
