Zurich (German: Zürich) is the largest city in Switzerland.
It is commonly referred to as being the cultural and economic capital city of the country, whereas the political capital is actually Berne.
Zurich is host to many events, particularly during the spring and summer seasons. One notable annual event is Sechseläuten - an event that sees the burning of an effigy of a snowman - to celebrate the end of winter and the start of spring.
In 2009, Zurich hosted the annual Europride celebration by Europe's lesbian and gay communities.
