The MV Eddie Somers is a support vessel operated by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.[1][2] She was ordered in July 2020 and commissioned in August 2022, replacing the MV J. Milliard Tawes. She is named after a Captain of the J. Milliard Tawes, who retired shortly before the vessel was ordered.[3][4]

She is designed to serve as both a buoy tender and light icebreaker.[2]
