This article is planned to cover elective procedures in human beings performed to decrease fertility. It mentions the larger notion of operations that result in infertility in the introduction, because this article should be able to convey that (1) some operations (eg hysterectomy) may not be done purposefully to stop child bearing but do eliminate the posibility of normal pregnancy and (2) should hook into surgical sterilization of animals, which the British call desexing operations, and will be called that here. Those operations depending on timing, also stop secondary sex characteristics and much adult sexual behavior, and that will also get tied -in in other articles.
