Template:TOC-right Opsonins are proteins that bind to particles and cells, believed to be foreign by the immune system, to increase their susceptibility to phagocytosis. Opsonization may be the result of immunoglobulin antibodies generated by B-lymphocytes, or by C3B and other complement (immunology) proteins. The immunoglobulins bind to epitopes, or specific molecules on foreign cell surfaces.
