Canea (in Modern Greek: Χανιά, Chania)—probably matching with the antique site of Cydonia—is a city of Greece and the second largest city of the island of Crete, on the northwestern coast. It is the capital of the Canea Prefecture. There are 55 838 inhabitants (2001) in the city and 130 000 in the urban area.

Canea is reputed for its outstanding beauty and for its well preserved, traditional houses.
