About: Michael Wade

I am Michael Wade. Really.

Remember to always ask yourself the question: WWSMD (What Would Steve McQueen Do)?

Michael Wade is an expatriate Canuck who makes his home in Dallas, Texas. He is a Mechanical Design Engineer currently working for AMX, a company that designs high-end residential/commercial/government automation and control systems.

Wade received a three-year Mechanical Engineering Technologist diploma from Durham College of Applied Arts and Technology in May 1996. He specializes in the mechanical 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software packages Pro/ENGINEER and SolidWorks, as well as the 2D CAD software standard, AutoCAD. Wade uses the aforementioned CAD software to design plastic injection-molded and sheet metal components for the telecommunications and automation/control industries. Outside of work, he is a motorcycle fanatic, namely sportbikes ( i.e. crotch rockets), and has followed the AMA and MotoGP series closely for the past nine years. Wade also enjoys reading non-fiction, practising calligraphy, and learning about photography (he is complete novice).

Most of Wade's career has been focussed on contract mechanical design work at a handful of companies, including: Halliburton, Alcatel, Siemens (two separate times), and AMX. Below are lists of his skill sets:

  • Design of plastic injection molded components.
  • Design of precision machined components.
  • Interface with vendors to determine the best manufacturing methods and most cost-effective process for timely project completion.
  • Cost reducing current products for further savings.
