The belief that there is no God, or there are no gods; on a popular usage, the mere lack of any belief in any God or gods also qualifies as atheism, though philosophers more often call this agnosticism.
Absence of belief in any god or other supernatural beings; distinct from ''antitheism'', or opposition to religion, and ''agnosticism'', the position that one cannot know whether such beings exist.
