The Citizendium must not be used for self-promotion. This has several consequences.

  • You may not, even if you are a topic informant, start an article about yourself, or any company, organization, website, or other entity, especially marketable entity, with which you are closely associated. Such articles may be deleted summarily, regardless of their quality. In the future, our Topic Informant Workgroup may start a project in which companies may submit new articles about themselves. We have not yet started such a project.
    • Exceptions: students and teachers may start articles about their universities and schools
  • You may not add links to articles with which you are associated. Instead, you must request that others do this for you (e.g., on the article's talk page). Adding such links will not count as a request; anyone who notices that you are associated with a website that you have linked from an article should remove the link to the talk page.
  • Similarly, if you wish to have books or articles of yours added to the "Further reading" section of an article, please ask someone--a specialist who can judge what the "Further reading" section should look like--to do this for you.
  • We strongly frown upon editing articles about ourselves. The only permitted exception is to correct straightforward errors. Notice that a difference of opinion is not a "straightforward error." If the Citizendium article about you brings you no joy, consult the Topic Informant Workgroup; do not take matters into your own hands.
