This category contains articles involving the Azemiopinae, Causinae and Viperinae subfamilies - the true vipers or pitless vipers. Originally, the first two were also part of the Viperinae, which is why they are still often grouped together under this name. The pit vipers of the Crotalinae subfamily, a much larger group, have their own category: Category:Pit vipers.
