From Greek mythology, (Roman: Hercules) sometimes spelled Herakles, a hero with exceptional strength, daring, courage, and masculinity, who was the son of Zeus and Alcmene, and who was related to Perseus. He was the subject of numerous adventures who helped improve the world for mankind.
