The Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) is a non-profit association of engineering professionals, especially in areas related to computers and communications. Usually referred to by its initials via the moniker "I-triple-E", the IEEE publishes numerous peer-reviewed technical journals and is a widely recognized standards development organization.

The organization traces its founding to the 1884 foundation of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and to its 1912-founded rival Institute of Radio Engineers. Both these organizations merged in 1963 to form the current organization, with headquarters in New York City. However, most of its business is done at the IEEE Operations Center[1] in Piscataway, NJ, first occupied in 1975.
