During the Korean War, the AN/PRC-10 was the standard tactical radio family of the U.S. Army. It was a 26-pound backpack vacuum tube radio with preselected frequencies in the 38.0 to 54.9 MHz range, introduced in 1951 that began to be replaced by the AN/PRC-25 in 1962.

It operated between 38.0 to 54.9 MHz; the AN/PRC-8 and AN/PRC-9 were identical save for operating frequencies:

Designation Frequency range (Megahertz)
AN/PRC-8 20.0 to 27.9
