Parker Griffith is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, from the 5th District of Alabama. He is a retired radiation oncologist and small business owner, elected to the the Alabama State Senate in 2006 and to Congress in 2008.

In June 2009, he met with LTG Ronald Burgess, Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, to emphasize the importance of the Redstone Arsenal Missile and Space Intelligence Center (MSIC) in ballistic missile defense.[1]

Dr. Griffith voted against the H.R. 3962 House health care bill in November 2009.

District

Located in northern Alabama, much of the district is rural, but contains Huntsville, Alabama with the Marshall Space Flight Center and Redstone Arsenal.
