Peptidyl-dipeptidase A is a "peptidyl-dipeptidase that catalyzes the release of a C-terminal dipeptide, -Xaa-*-Xbb-Xcc, when neither Xaa nor Xbb is Pro. It is a Cl(-)-dependent, zinc glycoprotein that is generally membrane-bound and active at neutral pH. It may also have endopeptidase activity on some substrates".[1]

Peptidyl-dipeptidase A is also called Angiotensin I converting enzyme or Angiotensin converting enzyme converts angiotensin I to angiotensin II in the renin-angiotensin system.

Peptidyl-dipeptidase A is also called Kininase II because it inactivates bradykinin in the kallikrein-kinin system.
