Persephone [r]: From Greek mythology, (Roman: Proserpina), she was the wife of Hades and daughter of Demeter and queen of the underworld. She was abducted by Hades, but her mother searched for her, and ultimately struck up a bargain so that she would return to Mount Olympus during the spring, summer, and fall seasonss, as recounted in the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, according to Elizabeth Vandiver, Classics scholar and authority on Greek mythology and Greek tragedy including the Iliad, Odyssey, Aeneid, Homer, and Virgil.
