Super-panamax is a term used to refer to vessels too large to transit the Panama Canal. Panamax vessels are built to the canal's maximum dimentions. The canal lock's maximum dimensions are 294 metres, by 32.3 metres, with a draft of 12 metres. Panamax vessels displace about 65,000 tons.
