== Colonialism and imperialism ==
I have problems with the close linking of colonialism and imperialism.  It is true that the terms are often used interchangeably, but conceptually they are quite different.  It is quite possible to have a territory within an empire without colonising it.  One 20th century example of this was Uganda, which had the legal status of a Protectorate, unlike the neighbouring territory of Kenya, which was a colony, with settlement as such.  However, I am not about to mess with the article, as I do not know enough about it.  --[[User:Martin Wyatt|Martin Wyatt]] 22:27, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
