Obviously everyone want 'good standing' to remain so I'll accept that and wait to see what you guys put to gether to re-vote. D. Matt Innis 20:14, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

There is a lot more to consider here than simply how long the nomination period lasts. The charter does not specify how long the polls are to remain open, how the votes are to be tallied, who certifies the election results, how the election is to be conducted. Jones 00:32, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Elections and referenda shall be organized by the Managing Council and carried out by the Constabulary, with the following conditions:

1. Two weeks shall be provided for nominations and for discussions of the issues brought about during the nomination period.
2. Elections shall be open for a period of not less than seven days. The length of time for which the election shall be open shall be determined by the Management Council.
3. Election results shall be certified by the Management Council not more than 2 days after the close of the election.
4. All Each Citizen in good standing—as defined by the Management Council—and regardless of status, shall be entitled to one vote.

5. The nature of the ballot (secret, open, in the Citizendium, by email, or otherwise) shall be determined by the Management Council, provided that any method adopted must be accessible and usable by every citizen.

Much better, I agree D. Matt Innis 00:37, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Agree Russell D. Jones 17:53, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
So "status" now refers to author/editor or what? That should be made clear. It should be Management Council in the first line, by the way, not Managing Council -Joe Quick 01:51, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Go ahead and make a suggestion, Joe, and I'll vote. D. Matt Innis 11:48, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
I think "status" is defined above where we talk about editors (art 6?) Russell D. Jones 17:53, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
So does this let those with a "blocked status" vote? Should they? D. Matt Innis 18:19, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
Depends on how the MC defines "good standing." If the MC orders a vote to occur on the wiki, then obviously, those with block accounts won't be able to vote. I haven't really thought of "Blocked" as a status. I've been thinking that there are only two statuses "author" (citizen) and "editor." That's how I've been meaning it when I've used the term. In that case, let's do this:

Elections and referenda shall be organized by the Management Council and carried out by the Constabulary, with the following conditions:

1. Two weeks shall be provided for nominations and for discussions of the issues brought about during the nomination period.
2. Elections shall be open for a period of not less than seven days. The duration of the election period length of time for which the election shall be open shall be determined by the Management Council.

Agree. D. Matt Innis 18:38, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
I have replaced "length of time for which the election shall be open" by "duration of the election period", struck out the examples and agree with the text now. --Daniel Mietchen 21:07, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Perfect. Agree. Russell D. Jones 21:26, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Agree with Daniel's version. D. Matt Innis 23:56, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Agree. (I changed "Managing Council" to "Management Council".) -Joe Quick 15:19, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
