The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a United Nations organization that provides information and resources for national development. It is the means by which the UN intends to carry out the Millenium Development Goals, which are based on halving world poverty by the year 2015. The principal challenges are:

UNDP representatives are working in 166 countries, led by the UNDP Administrator, Helen Clark, who is the former Prime Minister of New Zealand. It produces statistics including the Human Development Index
