Balloons are aircraft that remain aloft through the use of buoyancy.

Balloons are distinct from airships in that airships can be propelled and steered whereas balloons drift with the wind.

There are three types of balloons: 1) hot air balloons, 2) gas balloons, and 3) Rozier balloons.

Balloons are the first type of aircraft ever to lift a human from the surface of the earth. The first balloon to carry a human being was built by the Montgolfier brothers in 1783. The aircraft was flown by two other guys in Paris.
