EMILY's List is a U.S. political organization focused on electing Democratic Party women, who are opposed to the prohibition of abortion, to office. EMILY is an acronym for "Early Money Is Like Yeast" (it helps the dough rise).

The Right to Arm Bears

In August 2010, it started a recruiting and fundraising video, featuring women in grizzly bear costumes calling themselves the "Mama Grizzlies", with the slogan "Sarah Palin doesn't speak for me." Palin originated the term Mama Grizzly. The group's president, Stephanie Schriock, explained

Throughout this cycle, Sarah Palin has predicted a rising tide of mothers and women voters who will support her so-called 'Mama Grizzly' candidates. Palin has made it her mission to defeat candidates who have worked hard to champion the rights of women and families across the country and replace them with conservative candidates who want to repeal health care, stand with big business, and eliminate a woman's right to choose.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony List, responded "EMILY's List is running scared--and it shows. Clearly, in this 'Year of the Pro-Life Woman,' which Sarah Palin helped make possible, women have found their political voices. Pro-life 'Mama Grizzlies' represent the majority of women across the country."[1]
