Fort Rucker is the United States Army Aviation Center, the home of Army Aviation doctrinal development, training, and management. Ozark, Alabama is the nearby civilian community.

Major general James Barclay commands the Army Aviation Center of Excellence and the Army Aviation Branch; BG Warren Phipps is deputy commander. The senior enlisted advisor is CSM Tod Glidewell, and, to reflect the large number of warrant officers in Army Aviation, CWO5 Jeffery Reichard is Chief Warrant Officer of the Aviation Branch. Colonel Yvette J. Kelley is the garrison commander.

In addition to a large number of schools and development organization, the 1st Aviation Brigade and 110th Aviation Brigade are based here.
