There arn't many Linguists here at CZ yet,Martin, and I'm not one either, but I am interested in romance languages and currently learn Italian. I appreciated your editing comments on wheat. David Tribe 04:54, 23 January 2007 (CST)

Thanks. There are currently 8 linguistics authors. I come to realize it's not easy to deal with a whole language in a few pages. I don't really know what to write about French phonology. I think it can't be a complete description of the phonological system of French.--Martin Kalck 03:39, 25 January 2007 (CST)

Thanks for those who have been working here. This article is an excellent start. I think the opening part would benefit from more attention. For example, it says "its development was influenced by", yet I don't understand what that means--was there an invasion, and if so, when etc? It's kind of vague. Also, the reference for the number of French speakers does not pin down the year in the which the count was made (the website referenced is copyright 1996-2007, a wide range. I'd rather see a reference from the World Almanac stating for what year the statistic applies (this becomes more important as the article ages). So I would recommend keeping this article at status=2 ("developing") for awhile. I don't feel any particular rush to achieve approval--there is so much to be done, and I'd like to see it be as good as possible first.Pat Palmer 11:14, 13 April 2007 (CDT)

I do agree with that. I changed the status.
