Citizendium Getting Started
Quick Start | About us | Help system | Start a new article | For Wikipedians

Tasks: start a new article • add basic, wanted or requested articles • add definitionsadd metadata • edit new pages

Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start, and see Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, our help system and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forum is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any user or the editors for help, too. Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! We are so glad to have you as part of our community! Go on and start! Nancy Sculerati MD 12:54, 29 January 2007 (CST)

Your wikipedia edits are awesome! I'd recruit 2 other experts like yourself and that would help improve workgroup activity! I'm hoping we start formally recruiting experts soon. -Tom Kelly (Talk) 13:49, 29 January 2007 (CST)

Architecture WG

I was not sure about it. I only tagged the articles that were in this List. --Versuri 12:28, 30 January 2007 (CST)

Media Assets

Hi Russ. You might want to have a look at Archive:Media Assets Workgroup.  —Stephen Ewen (Talk) 04:17, 10 September 2007 (CDT)

Just a warning

Hi Russ, I just noticed that you are creating pages with the subpage /draft. This means something special in Citizendium and it is likely that your article will be lost when the 'real Draft' is created and writes over yours. If you are starting a new article, go ahead and start it in the namespace without the /draft and develop it from there. Thanks, Matt Innis (Talk) 08:01, 10 September 2007 (CDT)

Workgroups

Hello Russ, here is the list of workgroups we are currently using. Old habits from wikipedia die hard ;-) Give this a quick read and if you need a new one, there is a request page as well. --Matt Innis (Talk) 19:34, 10 September 2007 (CDT)

PS. You can find this list by clicking on the 'Workgroup' link on the left column. --Matt Innis (Talk) 19:35, 10 September 2007 (CDT)

Ah gotcha, you mean I put India into the Jahan article metadata......phew. Sorry Matt you might have to really spell things out for me for while, I'm not usually that good at hints, and for some reason the metadata wasn't on my watchlist even though I'd created it - I'll make sure to do it next time as it doesn't do it automatically - presumably this has been noticed? --Russ McGinn 19:53, 10 September 2007 (CDT)
Oh, no, I didn't know that. You are doing fine, in fact you are working so fast that I am doing my best to keep up ;-) You seem to catch on fast. By the way, since there are not as many edits here as wikipedia, I have found that I can follow things easier by using Recent changes on the left. That is how I am keeping track of you, but you are free to use whatever method works for you. --Matt Innis (Talk) 20:17, 10 September 2007 (CDT)

Hi

Noticed your edits today and welcome here. i saw you mention something about the cites being broken although i could not figure out the details. What is the difference between WP and CZ in that respect? Chris Day (talk) 21:09, 10 September 2007 (CDT)

CZ Talk:Naming Conventions

Looks good, now let's wait and see if anyone has a problem with it. Meanwhile, considering Larry's response, you can go ahead and create your articles the way you want stated and if there is a problem, we can always change them back. Good work! --Matt Innis (Talk) 16:14, 11 September 2007 (CDT)

You got it going!

Looking GOOD![1] You are on a roll! Let me know if you *ever* need me. --Matt Innis (Talk) 08:20, 12 September 2007 (CDT)

Naming Conventions

Hi, Russ, and thanks for the link. I think one of the failings of WP is that some projects go to extremes in protecting the identity of their subjects. There really is no issue at all around putting (sport) after cricket. I'm certainly impressed by Citizendium. Best regards. --John Leach 00:56, 19 September 2007 (CDT)

edit

Yes, Russ, it is part of the upgrade I think. At least it all happened at the same time. It might be an option that can be changed. The best thing to do would be to bring it up on the forums and see if there are enough people that agree to change it. Good luck and welcome back! Matt Innis (Talk) 07:32, 9 October 2007 (CDT)

Great Wall

Hello. You seem to be the only active participant of CZ:Architecture Workgroup, so here I go. I was wondering if the Great Wall of China could be included in the list of high-priority Architecture articles, as it seems to be missing right now. Happy editing! --Eddie Ortiz Nieves 14:57, 28 October 2007 (CDT)

I added it myself. Feel free to check it. --Eddie Ortiz Nieves 15:06, 28 October 2007 (CDT)

Hi Russ

In response to your cultural bias on the high priority articles concern... I think that you could ask a hundred people to create such a checklist and get a hundred different answers. There are so many significant works of architecture around the world that making a comprehensive short list without a cultural bias is, in my opinion, next to impossible. I have no problem with the list as it is now, although none of the articles are part of my "area of expertise" so to speak.

Hi Russ

You asked "I'm confused - can I just create Origins and architecture of the Taj Mahal/Gallery and whack a {{subpages}} template at the top?"

Yes, I think so, go ahead and don't worry, we can always clean up later - fraid I have to fly now.Gareth Leng 07:56, 27 November 2007 (CST)

Thanks Gareth --Russ McGinn 07:57, 27 November 2007 (CST)

Inside the Jawab.

One, if you look at that photo closely it appears scanned from a paper copy. Two, other photos uploaded by the psuedonymous person appear that way. Three, its uploaded by a psuedonymous person, and hosting such images are a no-no here because of hokey-poky that sometimes goes on under such cover. Can you try to find a replacement for that? It really ought go the way of the delete button. Stephen Ewen 11:31, 4 December 2007 (CST)

Here's the replacement. I got the author to release it under a CC license of his choice. Stephen Ewen 00:33, 5 December 2007 (CST)
That's a great picture - thanks Stephen. I see there's other good stuff where that came from too.........--Russ McGinn 09:58, 5 December 2007 (CST)
