Conservatism (aka Toryism) is a form of politics in which the interests of free enterprise entrepreneurs and shareholders are held to be paramount. All sorts of labels are applied to it, especially by the Tory party in Great Britain, in an attempt to conceal the true nature of conservatism and dress it up as some kind of social welfare program. Tories typically claim to be patriotic but, as Samuel Johnson famously said: "Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel".
