Nominations for Management and Editorial Councils

You have been nominated for seats on both the Management and Editorial Councils in the July-August Special Election. The nominator was myself. To accept or decline these nominations, please visit the Nominations page here (for the Management Council seat) and here (for the Editorial Council Editor seat) by midnight UTC on July 27th. You may write an election statement for each if you wish (linked from the Nominations page).

The Management Council seat runs until June 30th, 2014 or June 30th, 2015 (the successful candidate with the fewest votes receiving the shorter term) and the Editorial Council seat expires on December 31st, 2014. In the event that Referendum 1 is passed, all seats will expire on June 30th, 2014. Thanks! John Stephenson 17:02, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

C++ pages

Hi - can you look at this unofficial redlink category and see what to do about those pages. We don't use categories in this way. I'm not sure if the pages should be subpaginated, converted to /Catalogs/ subpages (of C++?), moved somewhere else, or what. Thanks. John Stephenson 14:00, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Those pages are certainly odd. They seem to be code include files used to make the three .png files of plots. I would just leave them alone for now, lest the changes break something. When we get more editors in future, these could use a revisit.Pat Palmer 09:21, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

I'm still here

Although I've been away for awhile, I'm still around and may be coming back to the project for occasional writing.

Since you ask, Bhikkhu. That's just Pali for what tends to be translated as monk. Actually, they're, at least in theory, more like friars (e.g. Franciscans) than monks (e.g. Benedictines), but the English Protestants who did the early translations weren't too well up on the differences between types of Catholic religious orders.

If you're interested in reading more of what I've had to say on the Pali Canon, you can follow the links from my user page to Wikinfo and Wikisage, where I've adopted different approaches to fit the nature of those sites. All three are WIP, of course. Peter Jackson (talk) 09:16, 14 May 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for those links, Peter. Love the Pali Canon catalog. Will explore them!Pat Palmer (talk) 18:21, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
